Please find information on accessibility at GROW. While we have tried to cover everything that we could think of in order to give people the information needed, we are very happy to respond to any enquiries and requests relating to anything we have missed or not been clear on. GETTING TO THE VENUE

Train

The nearest train stations are:

Hackney Wick overground station: 0.2 miles.

Routes from Hackney Wick station to the venue consist of level-access enabled by dropped kerbs, however tactile paving/detectable warning surfaces is limited.

Stratford: 1.1 miles via the Olympic Park

Closest bus stops are:

White Post Lane: 0.3 miles away (for 339)
The Copper Box: 0.3 miles away (for 388)

There are a number of bike racks available at the front entrance.

Parking

GROW can arrange parking for those who require it for access reasons. Please email hello@growhackney.co.uk to request this with as much notice as possible. Please note, request and confirmation will be required due to automated parking restrictions in the yard.

Drop-offs

Drop-offs are available for anyone who may need assistance. Venue address is: Grow Hackney, 98c Wallis Road, Main Yard, Hackney Wick, E9 5LN

WHEELCHAIR ACCESS

The inside bar area is wheelchair accessible with an accessible gender-neutral toilet.

The height of the bar is 128 cm. Grow has a wheelchair accessible bar on the side with height 102 cm. The menu board is visible from this point and there are also printed menus available.

The outside terrace, greenhouse and mezzanine are not wheelchair accessible and can only be accessed via a series of stairs (please see photos at the end of this page).

ACCESSIBLE TOILET

Dimension of Accessible toilet is 175cm x 160cm with 92cm wide door, preceded by 80 cm wide door that is prior to the toilet door. Toilet room itself contains accessibility handles, a low positioned sink as well as an emergency cord.

ASSISTANCE - PEOPLE/ANIMALS/TECHNOLOGY

Assistance animals are permitted and bowls of water can be provided. Loud music will be played during the night. Animals that are not required for assistance must leave by 8pm.
There is no loop system for hearing aid users
We do not have BSL or live captioning at events, unless otherwise specified on the event page.

SEATING

There are 4 main seating areas in the venue:

Stage Seating - inside, downstairs by the main bar and stage. Seating consists of small wooden stools (no backrests or armrests). This is the only wheelchair accessible area in GROW
Mezzanine - located inside, above the main bar and only accessible via stairs. Consists of large tables with attached benches ( no armrests or backrests).
Greenhouse - the indoor/outdoor space located by the side of the canal. Seating consists of tables and separate chairs (backrests but no armrests)
Terrace - outdoor canalside area. Most tables are covered with umbrellas / awnings and heated with a patio heater. Seating consists of a mix of tables and attached benches (no armrests or backrests) and tables with separate chairs (backrests but no armrests)

Many of the tables are outside and have covers and heaters however, GROW is an all-weather venue and some of the tables are not completely sheltered from the wind/rain. We recommend that you check the local weather reports in advance and bring suitable clothing.

Seats can be reserved and GROW can move furniture or provide different kinds of seating in order to accommodate specific requests. For any specific seating requests or questions please contact hello@growhackney.co.uk

TEMPERATURE

The temperature in the outside and inside areas is variable depending on the weather
Inside is ventilated by ceiling fans and heated if needed

LIGHTING/SMOKE

Levels of lighting are variable throughout venue and time

Entrance is well lit throughout the day and night
Entrance corridor is lit by spotlights and pathway is well visible
Entrance to inside room is well lit
Stage is lit by stage lights that are not flashing, colour might change
Room is lit depending on time to enhance pleasant ambience
Mezzanine is well lit during the day but then it changes to become less lit to enhance pleasant ambience
Exterior is well lit through the daytime. However during the evening terrace is only lit by festive lights and some spotlights to create pleasant ambience
Greenhouse is well lit throughout the day and night
Walkways, pathways steps are well lit throughout with spot lights

Smoke machines are not usually used but we ask if you have concerns to email us on hello@growhackney.co.uk with the date/event you plan to attend and we will confirm
Strobe lighting is not usually used but we ask if you have concerns to email us on hello@growhackney.co.uk with the date/event you plan to attend and we will confirm
No vaping/smoking is permitted anywhere inside the venue, only in the smoking area outside

FIRE EXITS

GROW have 2 fire exits in case of emergency:

1st close to stage area leading through corridor and out of venue (wheelchair accessible)
2nd out at the back of the terrace, leading through Bar90 and out at end of the yard

SPACE INFORMATION

The spaces different public spaces at GROW consist of the main entrance, the inside bar and stage area, the inside mezzanine, the greenhouse, and the outdoor terrace spaces.

EVENTS

Each event is different at Grow , often with activity happening at different times and in different locations throughout the venue, this includes indoors and outdoors. Should you have any specific accessibility questions about an event, please email us at hello@growhackney.co.uk with the date/times you wish to arrive and we will provide information and guidance. We ask for as much advance notice as possible but ideally 72 hours to give us enough time to respond. Thank you.
