GROW LIVE: JINJÉ & BRIEF UTOPIA (LIVE) // KAMAR // EARTHLY MEASURES (LIVE ELECTRONIC, GLOBAL, PSYCHEDELIC)

A full night of live rhythm, psychedelic textures and global dancefloor energy, as Jinjé brings A Brief Utopia to the floor in full band form, with support on the decks from Kamar and Earthly Measures.

ABOUT THE EVENT

A Brief Utopia began as a shift in direction for Jinjé, stepping away from the studio and into a more physical, instinct-led way of making music, rooted in live drumming and percussion. What followed has grown into a full live project, built alongside a cast of heavyweight musicians, blending tuned percussion, live drums and psychedelic synth work into something vivid, rhythmic and alive.

On stage, it moves with intent. A colourful, high-energy performance that draws on sounds from across the world, shaped through improvisation and tight musicianship, built equally for the dancefloor and the moment. Since its beginnings on Scene Unseen, the project has expanded into a full LP with Earthly Measures, bringing even more depth and movement into the sound.

Jinjé’s wider catalogue has picked up support from the likes of Jon Hopkins, Max Cooper and Gerd Janson, alongside plays across Radio 1, 6 Music and beyond. Before that, as part of Vessels, he spent years touring internationally, taking in festivals from Glastonbury to Sonar, shaping a sound that has always balanced electronic depth with live energy. A Brief Utopia feels like a natural evolution of that path, more direct, more physical, and built to be experienced in the room.

If you’re into the likes of Floating Points in full live mode, Jon Hopkins, Max Cooper or the more rhythm-led edges of artists like Nicola Cruz and Dengue Dengue Dengue, Jinjé’s A Brief Utopia will land heavy. Rooted in live percussion, jazz influence and global rhythms, it sits somewhere between club music and live ensemble energy. This is a serious one for the Grow community, a rare chance to catch something this immersive and rhythm-driven in the room. Not one to miss.

Closing the night, Kamar brings a deeply rooted and wide-reaching approach to the dancefloor, shaped through years of digging, travel and connection to global sound. A resident on Worldwide FM, his ‘Tealeaves’ show explores music through migration, reflecting a sound that moves fluidly across borders and traditions.

His sets are built on rhythm and feeling, connecting dub, synth-led sounds and percussive club music from the Americas through to the SWANA region and beyond. It’s a style grounded in deep knowledge but always tuned to the room, creating a sense of flow across genres, cultures and tempos.

Kamar has played everywhere from Glastonbury and We Out Here to Phonox, Brilliant Corners and Jumbi, and has appeared across NTS, Rinse FM and My Analogue Journal. Through his party far.corners, he continues to push a sound centred on discovery and exchange, always digging deeper into the global underground.

Opening the night, Earthly Measuressets the tone with a free-flowing approach to sound, pulling from all corners of the globe with no fixed boundaries. Expect humid, percussive selections and deep, transportive grooves, easing the room into motion and setting the pace for what follows.

ABOUT THE EVENT

Curated by DJ Cengiz, the event brings together rhythmic innovation and soulful energy, creating a dancefloor experience that is both healing and electrifying. With releases on CoOperation Records, Jamz Supernova’s Future Bounce, and his home label Tru Thoughts - as well as remixes for Goldie’s Fallen Tree 1Hundred and Wah Wah 45s - he has firmly established his place in the genre’s next generation.

On stage, WheelUP has lit up iconic venues and festivals including Hootananny Brixton, Shambala, Lost Village, Love Supreme, We Out Here, Kendal Calling, and Worldwide Sète. As a DJ, he's headlined at Spiritland and Café 1001, with standout appearances at Brick Lane Jazz Festival, Glastonbury, Worldwide Festival, Everybody Loves the Weekend, Stowaway Festival, and a support slot for Groove Armada at KOKO. His club night, WheelUP Presents, has hosted key broken beat tastemakers like Jamz Supernova and Ben Hauke. A former Balamii resident, he continues to make waves on the airwaves with recent mixes for Mellotron, Defected, Radio 1001, and The Boat Pod, and a guest appearance on Rinse FM with Drifty—which led to the launch of their joint club night, SameSame.

SECRETSUNDAZE PRESENTS: MULTI MULTI FESTIVAL // PULLING THREADS // COTCH INTERNATIONAL // ONE GLOVE // SPACED

Multi Multi returns to Hackney Wick for another full-spectrum exploration of vital electronic music, taking over venues, waterways and hidden corners across the neighbourhood.

ABOUT THE EVENT

This year’s edition sharpens the focus on intimacy, sound and discovery, bringing together some of the most exciting artists, collectives and selectors operating across the electronic spectrum right now. From groove-led dancefloor pressure and dubbed-out psychedelia to trance euphoria, diasporic experimentation and leftfield live performance, Multi Multi is built for deep exploration and chance encounters.

Throughout the day, Grow will host a programme of DJs as part of the festival journey.

We will be open from 11 am and open to the public to enjoy brunch until 2 pm.

Pulling Threads set the tone – mi-el's ever-evolving party series, known for slow, sexy and seriously considered selections, consistently platforming some of London's most vital underground voices. On the bill: mi-el, DJ Python, Bushbby

Come evening, Cotch International steps in – a South London label and event series with over a decade of London nightlife behind them, championing globally-minded music with a raw edge, spanning all BPMs through a distinctly pirate radio lens. On the bill: Joe Cotch, Afoma V, NVST, DJ Bassan

Out on the Terrace, One Glove hold the afternoon – Macca's platform for the lesser-known, the left-leaning and the weirdos, guided by a Balearic-but-not-too-Balearic policy that keeps things wonderfully hard to pin down. On the bill: Ri Mistry, Macca

In the evening, Spaced descend on the Terrace. As celebrated for their immersive, themed environments as they are for seriously headsy house and techno, the East London loft party crew have been at it since 2014. On the bill: FCE, Tho & Loren, Helly

Now nine years into their collaboration with Grow, Mucho Soul have once again pulled together a line up of experienced musical tastemakers. From 4pm, the Canal Side Terrace eases into the day with soul, rare groove, funk, boogie and sunshine jazz. From 10pm, things move indoors as the tempo lifts, rolling through deep house, disco and late night energy into the early hours.

Ross Allen has spent decades at the heart of UK music culture, DJing around the world, playing with artists including Sade, Massive Attack, Portishead and Zero 7, and hosting influential radio shows across the BBC, Ministry of Sound, Mi-Soul, NTS and Soho Radio. His A&R and label work has also connected him with artists including Chaka Khan, Goldie, Amy Winehouse, Talvin Singh and Lady Blackbird.

Kev Beadle

Kev Beadle has been pushing music rooted in jazz and soul since his pirate radio and club days in the mid 1980s. A hugely respected DJ, selector and compiler, his sets span the obscure and the familiar, new talent and deep history, with appearances at Dingwalls, The Wag, We Out Here, Southport Weekender, Suncebeat and beyond.

Noble & Heath

Emma Noble and Sophie Heath are a vinyl DJ duo bringing proper music for proper dancing. Their sets move through soul, funk, jazz, gospel and disco with real energy, warmth and mischief. Regulars across London’s underground soul and disco scenes, they have played Faith, KOKO, XOYO, Ronnie Scott’s, The Jazz Cafe, Glastonbury, Field Day, Cross The Tracks and more.

NOT THE USUAL JAM SESSION // OPEN JAM // FREE

A unique musical experience that breaks the mould. David (The Orbalist, Hackney Rhythm) hosts a jam that is accessible for everyone—no more pay-to-play, no more rehearsed sets. A space where synths, sequencers, MPCs, and E-drums harmonise with guitars, basses, keys, and acoustic drums.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

When Alessandro Corda and David met at the jam, they immediately realised they shared the same passion for music and had similar values. Alex, a versatile musician, DJ, and producer, and a regular at London’s jams and host of a couple, offered to work closely with David. Not only did he manage the stage, but he also contributed behind the scenes, taking the jam to the next level.

Join us on the first Sunday of each month. Admission is free and safe and welcoming to the newcomer or seasoned performer. Whether you’re a keyboard virtuoso, a beatmaker, or a storyteller with a voice, this jam is for you. Bring your passion and your open mind. Let’s create music that transcends the ordinary and be part of the Not The Usual Jam and Grow musical community.

Our stage has hosted the tentative strumming of novice guitarists, the mesmerising loops of experienced producers, and the raw vocals of singers discovering their voices. From Charlie Stacey to Qoha or George The Poet, our stage has welcomed talented artists from various disciplines, including regulars: Alex Mike The Mic, Freddie Mpanga, Nico (MoorMoor), Conor Larkin, Matt Duduryn, Tom Caton, Richard Castle, Simon (Koyoka), and many others who come together to share their music experience, celebrate their progress, enhance growth, and enjoy each other - keeping eclecticism our flagship. The NTUJ session is a sandbox for sonic exploration, where David conducts, orchestrates, and brings people together. Here, musical boundaries dissolve, genres intertwine, and magic is born. Bring your instruments, synths, drum machines, unconventional gear, and curiosity.

If you’d like to take part show up with your instrument, any questions that you may have, please send them to infohackneyrhythm@gmail.com

THE PEOPLE, THE PLACE: BERINGEI // FOOTSHOOTER // RUBY FRANCIS (BROKEN BEAT, JAZZ, NEO-SOUL, HOUSE, DISCO)

A new chapter from The People, The Place lands with a line-up rooted in London’s most soulful corners. Built on community, collaboration and creative independence, their parties have quickly become a meeting point for dancers, listeners and artists moving with intention.

ABOUT THE EVENT

Beringei guides the night with a sound that moves between the ethereal and the rhythmic. His sets and productions tap into something deeper, whether it’s music to drift through or moments that pull people closer together on the floor. It’s about connection in its purest form.

Co-curator Footshooter brings his unmistakable blend of broken beat, jazz and house, shaped through years of radio, live performance and collaboration across London’s underground. Fresh from releases on Tru Thoughts and collaborations with artists like Allysha Joy, his output continues to stretch across scenes while staying rooted in a soulful, forward-facing sound. His sets carry that same balance of musicality and movement.

Joining them is special guest Ruby Francis, whose rich, self-produced catalogue draws from ‘00s R&B and neo-soul, layered with warmth, groove and emotional depth. From crafting her own records to shaping intimate, late-night selections, there’s a clarity and independence to her sound that cuts through, equally suited to the stage and the dancefloor.

The People, The Place is more than a party. It’s a shared space shaped by people who care deeply about the music and each other. A place to move, listen and lock into something real.

DEEPDIG: ROHAN RAKHIT & DONUT (5 HR SET) // SOPH (SOULFUL HOUSE, BROKEN BEAT, PERCUSSIVE GLOBAL CLUB)

For our next DeepDig, we settle into a full evening of patient listening and long-form movement, shaped by some of London’s most exciting cultural innovators.

ABOUT THE EVENT

Rohan Rakhit and Donut step into an extended five-hour session, a format that allows their shared language to unfold without constraint. Regular collaborators and part of the team behind the First Light show on Worldwide FM, and now holding a new residency at Tate Modern, the pair have built a natural chemistry behind the decks.

Rohan, a key figure within the DAYTIMERS collective, brings a deeply rooted, cross-cultural approach to his selections. Alongside him, Donut runs his own parties and soundsystem, Shortlist, bringing that same energy into the booth with an instinctive, wide-reaching ear.

Together, they are a real match, a tour de force unrestricted by genre, able to move fluidly through soulful house, percussive rhythms, deeper club sounds and beyond, traversing sounds and moods with ease. Often heard together in South London, this is a rare chance to experience them stretching out in East, in Hackney Wick, with the time and space to really open things up. A real summer time treat shaped with patience, intuition and trust in the room.

Out on the terrace, Sophopens from early evening, setting the tone as the light fades. Co-founder of SisterMidnight and founder of the Social Records Society collective, as well as a producer of First Light, her work sits close to the grassroots, grounded in care, community and building spaces that last. Her selections lean into warmth and openness, creating a gentle entry point into the night before the deeper dive begins inside.

ABOUT DEEPDIG

DeepDig is a night curated by Grow, that brings some of our favourite DJs and producers to play the sets that they don’t usually get to play at bigger venues and festivals. Expect lengthy, no-holds-barred DJ sets in intimate settings, where they have free rein to take the crowd in whatever direction they like.

GROW’S 12TH BIRTHDAY: SAVE THE DATE // LIVE MUSIC // DJS // LINE-UP TBA SOON

It’s kind of crazy to think we’re here again, celebrating another birthday. Twelve years tucked away in our little corner of the Grow Studios warehouse, building things slowly, carefully and with a DIY spirit from day one.

ABOUT THE EVENT

Grow started as an experiment. Could an independent venue challenge the status quo and put people, planet and culture before profit? Twelve years later, we’re proud to still be here, still doing things our own way, and still grounded in the same morals and ethics that shaped the space from the beginning

Over the years, Grow has evolved through the people who have worked here, played here, danced here, eaten here, listened here and helped bring the venue to life. Our cultural programme has grown with that energy, shaped by the artists, musicians, collectives and promoters we’ve been lucky enough to work with along the way. From grassroots live music and jazz to forward-thinking club nights, deep listening sessions and community gatherings, the programme has always been about creativity, connection and the feeling of music in a room.

This year also marks 10 years of Stratos’s Jazz Jam, a huge part of Grow’s story and one of the most important weekly gatherings in the space. For a decade, it has brought together musicians, listeners and improvisers, keeping the spirit of live music alive in Hackney

On Saturday 18th July, we’ll be celebrating with a full day and night of live music, DJs, great food, flowing drinks and a few surprises along the way. We’ll be starting in the afternoon and carrying on right through until 2am.

Line-up and full details are coming soon, but expect the full Grow flavour from start to finish.

LOVE IS EVERYWHERE #8 SUMMER EDITION: TINA EDAWRDS // TIM GARCIA // MASUMI ENDO DANCE CLASS // FOOT NOTES (LATIN, AFRO, JAZZ HOUSE, BRUK)

The 8th edition of Tina Edwards’ jazz dancefloor party is a special one. After taking an extended break, Love is Everywhere returns for a one-time Summer edition. Jazz dancefloor takes centre stage once more.

ABOUT THE EVENT

Helping us pay homage to jazz dancefloor culture is a deeply rescpeted music head with an enviable record collection—he’s and one of the host’s closest friends and collaborators; it’s Tim Garcia.

As always, the night will open with a free entry, beginner friendly jazz dancefloor lesson from one of the world’s most admired dancers in the scene, Masumi Endo. Dance collective The Footnotes will return to the party of their founding to perform right before the headline set. Utterly unmissable.

TIM GARCIA:

Tim Garcia is a London-based DJ, radio broadcaster, and label owner known for his genre-spanning selections and deep-rooted commitment to underground music culture. With a weekly residency on Rinse FM, Tim continues to champion cutting-edge sounds across electronic music, jazz, hip hop, and global club styles. As a DJ, Tim has played at clubs and festivals around the world, including Glastonbury, We Out Here, Love Supreme, Lost Village, and Beneath the Baobabs and many more, earning a reputation for dynamic, soulful sets that connect the dots between scenes and styles.

Through his label Musica Macondo, Tim has released music from Grammy-nominated artists and some of the most respected names in global and electronic music including Quantic, K15, and Osunlade. The label is driven by a belief in music as a force for social change, exploring circular models of music release and cross-cultural, non-extractive collaborations that honour community and creative integrity.

His work is grounded in a rich understanding of music’s cultural and social power, further shaped by a Master’s degree in Ethnomusicology from SOAS University of London.

Having been a vocal pioneer of the UK scene for a decade—and DJing for the past 5—Tina proves that jazz and club culture are perfect partners.

WIth contagious energy and deep music knowledge—from West African groove and latin-house to 00’s Italo Jazz—Tina’s sets are never predictable. She performs across the UK and has played in Paris, Berlin, Hamburg, Chicago and LA, all as an independent artist. She’s shared line-ups with Gilles Peterson, Colleen Murphy, Coco Maria, Scarlett O Malley, Delfonic, Rebecca Vasmant, Poly-Ritmo and more.

DEEPDIG: ALEX NUT (4 HOUR SET) // DREY (HOUSE, BROKEN BEAT, SOUL / JAZZ, GLOBAL GROOVES)

For our next DeepDig, we’re bringing in two of our absolute favourite DJs for a full-length journey that we’ve been quietly buzzing about for a while. Seven hours, start to finish, in the hands of artists we trust completely.

ABOUT THE EVENT

Alexander Nut stands as one of the UK’s most respected selectors, a DJ whose reach stretches far beyond genre or tempo. Rooted in the legacy of Plastic People, his sets move effortlessly through house, soul, broken beat, jazz, hip hop, reggae and beyond, always guided by instinct and deep musical knowledge. As the driving force behind Eglo Records, he’s helped shape the sound of modern UK underground music, with a catalogue that speaks for itself. Add to that decades on the airwaves, from Rinse’s pirate days to NTS, and you’re looking at someone who lives and breathes this culture.

Stepping in for her regular collaborator and b2b partner, Blissy E, DREY will be kicking things off on the terrace, setting the tone and raising the energy before we head inside for a masterclass from Alex Nut. Expect deep groove-ridden soundscapes packed with heavy low-end frequencies, infectious percussion and warm, evolving tones. Originally from Birmingham and now based in London, she’s quickly built a name through sets at Jazz Cafe, Night Tales, JUMBI and more, alongside appearances on NTS, Rinse FM, Foundation FM and Voices Radio.

Expect a proper session. No rush, no filler, just two artists given the time and space to go deep.

We’ve also upgraded the lighting in the venue, adding a new dimension to the dancefloor for this one. Everything is set for a seriously immersive night.

£10 or less to catch Alex Nut and DREY in full flow. Come down early, stay late, and settle in.

ABOUT DEEPDIG

DANCES WITH LIONS: HAZEL MAK // TRANS-SIBERIAN MARCH BAND // JAMIE RENTON (AFROHOUSE, BALKAN BRASS, SKA, SALSA)

Get in the festival vibe for a party like no other! From Afrohouse to Balkan Brass, salsa to ska, funk to soca, this promises to be a musical adventure for all.

ABOUT THE EVENT

Featuring live music from Hazel Mak and the Trans-Siberian March Band, with the incredible DJ Jamie Renton on the decks keeping the party going into the small hours. This is a charity fundraiser for the Lion project in Malawi, an organisation providing free reconstructive surgery to road traffic accident victims in Malawi.

Hazel Mak is a multi award winning artist and founder of female empowerment platform Malawian Girls Rock. With her true Southern African style and inimitable attitude she made history in November 2018 when she was awarded an Afrima Award in the category of 'Best African Act in Diaspora' for her track Jaiva' featuring Zambias Roberto and Malawis Tay Grin. She was one of three Southern Africanartists (Shekinah and Nasty C - both from South Africa) to have won an Afrima in 2018. Following the release (March 2026) of her lead single "Bring Me Flowers" for her album due to release this year, Hazel Mak's music has appeared on BBC 1 extra. This also includes her 2 collaborations of which they have also been featured on BBC 1 extra one in March "Make My Day" and the most recent being April for a song called "Questions" Hazel describes her sound as Afrohouse with a delicate balance of soulful raw undertones inspired by the likes of Brenda Fassie, Shekinah to Dj Sonique early 2000 electronic dance vibes. Her music speaks to a generation of music lover that enjoy poetic lyrics that soothe the soul whilst getting drawn into perfectly curated instrumentals with infectious South African house rhythms.

Balkan brass party-starters the Trans-Siberian March Band are a colourful explosion of flamboyant, high-octane performances and musical miscellany - a fearsome blend of brass, reeds, percussion, guitar and vocals. They play riotous Balkan, Gypsy and Turkish tunes, up-tempo Russian drinking songs and even upper-tempo Klezmer, with a hint of hip hop and Latin for good measure. Highlights from the band's strange and wonderful history include shows at Glastonbury, Bestival, WOMAD, Royal Albert Hall, Kensington Palace, HMV Forum and The Roundhouse, as well as recording at Abbey Road and Air Studios.

10 YEARS OF JAZZ JAM WITH STRATOS // DJ PETE // CHANTY74

The first Thursday in June marks 10 years of Stratos’ Jazz Jam at Grow, the weekly night led by Rio Kai. Join us in celebrating this massive milestone.

Since 2016, it’s become part of the rhythm of Hackney Wick. It started out on20th April before landing on Thursdays, and over time, it’s grown into a regular meeting point for musicians and listeners. One of those nights that just kept going, week in, week out, with dedication and commitment, sharing all shades of jazz in our canalside venue.

This anniversary is about bringing that whole community back into the room. The band will play a set of original material in the first set outside on the floating pontoon. In the second set for the jam, we want to welcome back past members, regular players, familiar faces who’ve passed through over the years and new ones. If that’s you, please come and join in the celebration.

It’s been built slowly, over a long stretch of time. Not just by the band, but by everyone who’s played, listened, or found their way into the session and stuck around. If you’ve ever been part of it, this is for you. Come down, celebrate jazz in all its forms and get involved in the jam. Let's raise a glass to this outstanding 10 year residency centred around the community and good music.

The evening will also be soundtracked by DJ Pete and Chanty74, two selectors woven into the history of Grow’s jazz nights. Pete has led the DJ side of the Thursday sessions for a number of years, helping shape the sound around the live music and keeping the night moving between sets. Chanty74, who first introduced us to Rio and Djed in the early days, brings her own rich South African-rooted selections, joining the dots between psychedelic jazz, soul, hip hop, world music, house and beyond.

STRATOS THE BAND

Led and founded by Rio Kai, Stratos is Grow’s house band and the driving force behind the weekly Thursday jazz residency. He has become one of the most adventurous DJs of his generation, carrying a global sensibility shaped by sets everywhere from Panorama Bar and Fabric to Glastonbury, Havana and beyond.

His releases span Brownswood, Kompakt, Disco Halal and Huntleys and Palmers, alongside his own Highlife and A State of Flo imprints. 2018’s Radio Highlife won the Scottish Album of the Year award and cemented his reputation for weaving highlife, house and percussive electronics into something expansive and emotionally open. Recent album In My Dreams I’m a Bird and I’m Free continues that trajectory, balancing spiritual warmth with dancefloor weight.

A four hour set with Auntie Flo is not about quick hits. It is about immersion. Tracing lines between continents and communities. Letting rhythm do its slow work.

Warming things up for over three hours is Kate Hutchinson, a respected journalist, broadcaster and DJ. Formerly of Worldwide FM and now hosting a fortnightly Soho Radio show, she moves across rhythmic, percussive dance music from around the globe with depth and intention. Expect a patient, embodied opening that sets the tone properly.

This one is a real musical gift. Settle in early, find your spot, and let the night run its full course.

GROW LIVE: TUMBAITO (LIVE) // PAULA JUANA (DJ) // SUNNI D (DJ) (LATIN, JAZZ, GLOBAL GROOVES)

A full night of deep live rhythm and late-night dancefloor energy, as Tumabito return home to lead the floor through groove, improvisation and connection, before Soundway’s Paula Juana takes it deeper into a global club journey.

ABOUT THE EVENT

Tumbaito are led by Williams Cumberbache, long-time collaborator, resident and a true cornerstone of the Grow community, the band have become a defining presence on the floor over the years. From weekly canalside sessions to late-night takeovers, Williams has built something that runs deep through the space, rooted in rhythm, connection and a lifetime in music.

They carry that energy forward. A band shaped by decades of experience, blending Afro-Latin rhythms with jazz, funk and improvisation, always guided by Williams’ unmistakable touch on percussion. The result is something alive and constantly shifting, tight but free, locked in but open.

If you’ve been before, you already know how much of a magical gig this is. If not, this is the one to catch. A guaranteed dancefloor, driven by serious musicianship, real connection, and that unmistakable Tumabito pulse.

Closing the night, we welcome Paula Juana with her global sound shaped through years at the heart of Soundway Records. Originally from Colombia, her sets move fluidly through cumbia, salsa and Caribbean rhythms into Afrobeat, highlife, zouk and beyond, always grounded in deep musical knowledge and an instinct for what works in the room.

As Director at Soundway, she’s spent over a decade immersed in some of the most vital sounds from across Africa, Latin America and the diaspora, digging, shaping and releasing records that carry real weight. That depth comes through in her selections, worldly, percussive and built to move. She’s brought that sound to dancefloors across the world, from Glastonbury, We Out Here and Kala Festival to Dimensions in Croatia, as well as key spaces like fabric, EartH, Brilliant Corners and NT’s Loft in London.

Opening, Sunni D sets the tone with a high-energy blend of ’80s disco, Afro-boogie and ’90s house, rooted in Afro-Caribbean and Latin sounds. A resident of Disco Disco and Don’t F*** With Disco, he’s lit up floors from fabric to Glastonbury.

A full journey from live rhythm into late-night dancefloor heat.

DUBMERGE: ESHIE // MOONTALK // LIMI (DUB, JAZZ, DEEP HOUSE, BROKEN BEAT, LEFTFIELD ELECTRONICS, 140)

DUBMERGE is a club night celebrating the deep, soulful, bass-rich continuum of UK sound system culture.

ABOUT THE EVENT

Expect the best of the local underground selectors delivering low-end pressure, earthy percussion, rolling basslines, and syncopated rhythms with a dubwise attitude.

Eshie

With Punjabi and London roots to a childhood growing up in Southern California, Eshie was raised in a colourful world of music. By connecting the dots from around the world, her sound takes you on a journey of percussive and hypnotic club music. With a standout year playing UK festivals from We Out Here and Jazz Cafe Festival to being a regular around the London club circuit, her eclectic and open format approaches continues to draw audiences in. Along with her Voices Radio residency, she's only bridged the surface of building tension for deep dance floor immersions.

Limi

Between pulse and spirit, Limi finds the edges of sound—bass as language, rhythm as resistance. Her sets unfold like rituals: percussive, fluid, ungoverned, rooted in the underground yet reaching beyond it. She crafts moments anchored in punk energy and diasporic pulse. With a decade behind the decks, she’s carved a space between heavy bass pressure and cathartic emotional release, moving through 140, left-field and visceral percussive experiments blurring genre and gravity. Limi has shaped dancefloors from Keep Hush to Glastonbury, with appearances at The Southbank Centre, Somerset House, The Jazz Cafe, Colour Factory and We Out Here Festival.

Moontalk

London-based DJ, broadcaster and filmmaker Moontalk is driven by a passion for building immersive sonic dreamworlds. Her curations weave together dub pressure, polyrhythmic play and percussive textures with a psychedelic spirit frequently sprinkled with jazz and soulful flavours. Drawing across a wide spectrum of sounds, tempos and eras, genre always comes second to storytelling. She has performed at festivals at home and abroad, as well as renowned London venues including Corsica, Colour Factory, MOT, Palais and NTs. She is part of the Sisu crew and holds monthly shows on Voices and Subtle Radio alongside a residency at Om Being, East London's beloved sound and movement studio.

CANALSIDE LIVE: SUSTAINABILITY SESSION // ROLAND PERRIN & WILLIAMS CUMBERBACHE & FRIENDS // SUPPLIER FAIR

A FREE afternoon of live music, food and conversation. Exploring sustainability, local food systems and climate-positive business.

ABOUT THE EVENT

Building on Grow’s established canalside live music programme, this special session brings together live music from Williams Cumberbache and special guests, informal discussions about sustainability, supplier tastings, and contributions from local partners, including a community veg box scheme based at Grow, Hearth Bakery, Vintage Roots and other local suppliers.

We invite you to spend time by the canal, connect with others, and engage with practical ideas around sustainability, sample suppliers and enjoy live music from Roland Perrin & Williams Cumberbache & Friends.

Williams Cumberbache is the curator and resident behind Grow’s Canalside Sessions, a weekly platform that has become a cornerstone for live music at the venue, consistently bringing a wide spectrum of exceptional musicians to the stage. A highly respected percussionist, his approach is rooted in deep musical knowledge and long-standing connections across London’s jazz and improvisational scenes.

Roland Perrin is a regular presence within these sessions, a pianist, composer and bandleader known for his work across jazz and global music. His playing draws on a wide range of influences, from swing and Afro-Cuban rhythms to Brazilian and contemporary jazz, and he leads projects including the Blue Planet Orchestra. At Canalside, he brings a strong musical foundation while remaining open and responsive in the moment.

Together, Williams and Roland share a long-standing musical relationship built through repeated collaboration on stage. Their connection shapes the energy of these sessions, creating a space where experienced players can meet, stretch out and develop ideas in real time.

WHY THIS MATTERS
This programme strengthens Hackney Wick as a hub for independent, community-led and climate-conscious activity. Grow Studios is a long-standing, locally rooted organisation that has helped shape the area’s identity, creating a welcoming space that supports creativity, connection and responsible business.

As rising rents continue to push out original independent businesses, opportunities for affordable, community-focused activity are shrinking. This programme responds by creating open, inclusive ways for people to gather, learn and take part.

It also shines a light on the wider network of independent businesses at Grow Studios, from food and drink traders to wellbeing practitioners, an independent bike shop and local suppliers, strengthening visibility and shared audiences.

Alongside this, the programme supports practical, climate-positive action, from composting and reducing food waste to promoting biodiversity and local food systems, making sustainability accessible, social and relevant.

This project is supported with funding from Hackney Council

FOOD AND DRINK
Grow’s food menu includes brunch options and a fusion of Middle Eastern, Mediterranean and Modern British plates and sharers made with seasonal ingredients, always with handmade touches. Enjoy a drinks menu with a range of curated drinks, including hot and soft options.

GIRLZ B LIKE: DUBLATE PEARL // MARCIA DAVINYLMC, SWEET P // YDLR (BOOGIE, HOUSE, BROKEN BEAT, DISCO, LOVER'S ROCK)

Guys Dance, Girlz DJ: London’s most electrifying all-female vinyl movement Girlz B Like returns, and The Capitol is ready. London’s underground is calling - and this time, it’s louder, deeper, and more irresistible than ever.

ABOUT THE EVENT

Girlz B Like, the powerhouse all-female, vinyl-only DJ collective founded by Marcia Carr, is back to set Hackney ablaze with its bi-monthly sonic ritual. This is not just a party - it’s a movement, a celebration, and the most talked-about women-led dancefloor experience the city has been craving.

Following a sensational International Women’s Month edition - where NYC’s Mihoko and the unforgettable Meena Rahi ignited a night of pure electricity - the energy hasn’t dipped. The dance-floor stayed packed, the bar flowed, and the vibe? Unhinged and unmatched. Now, as spring blooms, Girlz B Like returns on Saturday 9th May (7PM–2AM) at Grow Hackney for another unmissable session where the only rule is: come early, stay late.

This edition brings together a heavyweight lineup of vinyl purists and cultural torchbearers:

South London legend DJ Dubplate Pearl makes her long-awaited Girlz B Like debut. A guardian of reggae sound system culture with roots stretching back to 1970s blues parties, she steps up with a rare groove-laced set - weaving boogie, disco, and Lover’s Rock into a deeply soulful journey. A familiar voice on NTS Radio and Balamii Radio, a familiar staffer at Lion Vibes, and a cornerstone of Brixton’s vinyl scene, her arrival is nothing short of iconic.

Joining her is the multi-hyphenate force YDLR - DJ, singer-songwriter, and founder of the groundbreaking PXSSY X VINYL initiative. From her CLUB YDLR residency to chart-topping Mixcloud sessions, she is redefining the grassroots club landscape while empowering the next generation of women on wax.

Returning by popular demand, Sweet P brings her signature fusion of soulful house, hip hop, jazz, and broken beat. A veteran of Manchester’s golden-era club 1990's circuit - from The Haçienda to Sankeys - she’s once again ready to command the floor with timeless energy and deep musical knowledge.

At the helm, Marcia Carr herself - revered by global icons like Kerri Chandler and Louie Vega - curates a journey only she can deliver: rich, soulful, and transcendent - a treat you do not want to miss.

For over a decade, Girlz B Like has carved out a vital space in club culture - championing women DJs, preserving vinyl artistry, and building a community that keeps evolving, growing, and dancing.

Tickets will be flying out quickly on Resident Advisor - and if you know, you know: this is the night everyone wants in on.

Don’t watch the hype. Be in the room and hold your spot on the night.

BRAZIL AFRICA SPECIAL: DJ AMY B // VOLTA45 (SAMBA FUNK, AFRO-DISCO, BATUCADA, HIGHLIFE, PROTO-HOUSE)

Volta45 and DJ Âmy B meet for a session tracing the deep musical links between Africa and Brazil. Led by two DJs whose selections come from years of serious digging, collecting and cultural work.

ABOUT THE EVENT

Born in São Paulo and now based in Lyon, DJ Âmy B is a DJ, vinyl collector and cultural producer with a deep-rooted connection to Brazilian music. Her work is grounded in research, dance and a real commitment to sharing the full spectrum of Brazil’s sound.

She is the founder of Carnavália, a high-energy party dedicated to Brazilian dancefloor sounds, and runs Forró da Âmy, a long-standing weekly night built around forró, the traditional music and partner dance from Northeast Brazil. Alongside this, she holds a residency on Radio Nova Lyon and has played across festivals and dancefloors in both Europe and Brazil.

Her sets are rich, rhythmic and full of character, moving between rare cuts, roots music and modern sounds with ease. She is also one half of Vinil Ancestral, a vinyl-focused project exploring Brazilian musical heritage, tracing connections between regions, traditions and the wider diaspora.

Volta45, aka Bernard Johnson-Tackie, is a Ghanaian-born, London-based DJ, record collector and archivist, known for blending sounds from Africa, South America and the French Caribbean into deeply percussive, high-energy sets. His work as co-compiler of Borga Revolution and wider research into West African music runs through everything he plays, giving his selections both depth and intention. His musical knowledge and depth are something to behold, best experienced on the dancefloor through Grow’s soundsystem.

Following last year’s packed out session with Far Out Recordings founder Joe Davis, Volta45 has continued to build out a series of nights at Grow rooted in live music and global connection, inviting artists such as The Scorpios, Fofoulah and Platfoord. From Sudanese funk and afrobeat-infused live shows to future-facing jazz and Senegalese rhythms, these sessions have explored the meeting points between traditions, diasporas and dancefloors.

This next chapter brings that same spirit into focus, drawing a line between West Africa and Brazil, two regions bound by deep rhythmic and cultural ties. Together, Volta45 and Âmy B create a space that goes beyond genres, rooted in heritage, movement and shared musical language.

A night for dancers, listeners and anyone drawn to the deeper story behind the music.

On Sunday 3rd May, Bank Holiday Sunday, sweet ones are honoured to welcome a true pioneer of London’s broken beat movement: IG Culture.

DEEPDIG: MICHE // LIMINAL PEOPLE (FUNK, SOUL, DEEP HOUSE, DISCO, GLOBAL GROOVES)

Our in-house series shaped around patience, intention and deep listening. A space to settle in and let the music unfold slowly. Two four-hour sets and proper journeys through sound.

ABOUT THE EVENT

This marks the fourth time we’ve invited miche to guide the room, and every time he’s brought something special. A DJ with a deep love for dancefloor-ready music in all its forms, miche has quietly become one of London’s most trusted selectors. His With Love compilations on Mr Bongo trace a global path through Brazilian MPB, modern soul, deep house and jazz-funk, each record sourced with care and cultural depth. Beyond the decks he co-runs four reissue labels dedicated to unearthing forgotten treasures and restoring lost chapters.

From all-night sessions across Europe to festival takeovers and radio shows, his sets carry that same curiosity. Nostalgia as a bridge, not a destination. Jazz that opens into house. Soul that drifts toward broken beat. Deep grooves that stretch, build and lock the floor step by step. At Grow, he knows exactly how to shape a room over time.

Joining him are Alfie and Paloma, Liminal People, back at Grow after warming up Mr Bongo here last August. Both have played for From The Crates and for DeepDig separately. This time they step into a full four-hour stretch.

Their sound moves through obscure disco, ecstatic house and leftfield dancefloor oddities, stitched together with instinct and joy. Rooted in the London soulful scene, they bring a psychedelic edge and an openness that draws dancers in. Expect lift, depth and a few curveballs along the way.

JAZZ JAM WITH STRATOS // EVERY THURSDAY

We're inviting you to experience the magic of our weekly Thursday Jazz Jam.

Since 2016, Stratos, our resident jazz band led by the talented and Mercury Prize-nominated Rio Kai, has held down this popular night, bringing together fans and musicians for an electrifying exploration of jazz.

Every week, Stratos dives into both the classic roots and boundary-pushing edges of jazz, creating a unique space where improvisation and connection take centre stage. With Rio Kai on bass, Dom Pusey on saxophone, Mike De Souza on guitar, and Zoe Pascal on drums, each set offers something new—a true celebration of live, evolving music.

After the first set, they open up the jam to jazz musicians who want to get involved! Contact Stratos on Instagram if you’re interested in jamming. Entry is free for jammers.

Set against the backdrop of our Hackney Wick canalside venue, this long-standing jazz night embodies both the charm of our community and the sophistication of jazz itself.
