Canalside Sessions with Williams Cumberbache is a regular weekend treat that brings world-class live music right to Hackney Wick.
ABOUT THE EVENT
Every Sunday afternoon from 1-4 pm, master conga player Williams Cumberbache, with over 30 years in the UK music scene and collaborations with legends like Goldie and Björk. Each week Williams will be joined by special guest bands bringing amazing live music to Hackney Wick every week with something different.
Ideal for families, friends, and music lovers alike and even your dog will enjoy this uplifting experience which is all about connection, relaxation, and the joy of live music—an essential part of Grow’s vibrant community.
SPECIAL GUEST - BENET MCLEAN
Benet McLean is a UK jazz violinist, pianist and composer known for his expressive, genre-crossing approach to contemporary jazz. Classically trained from childhood and tutored by Yehudi Menuhin, he first made his name on the London jazz scene as a pianist before returning to violin as his main creative voice.
His sound brings together hard bop, bebop, blues, groove, soul and modern improvisation, pushing the violin into fresh territory with energy, swing and feeling. Benet has worked across jazz, soul and contemporary music with artists including Laura Mvula, Mahalia, Omar, Julian Joseph, Soweto Kinch, Orphy Robinson, Cleveland Watkiss and Maxi Jazz/Faithless.
His acclaimed album Green Park captures his violin-led approach, blending deep musicianship with warmth, rhythm and a strong connection to the wider UK jazz tradition.
