EFG LONDON JAZZ FESTIVAL // PARASANG W/ POUYA ESEHAEI (ARIWO) & SPECIAL GUESTS

  • Grow 98c Wallis Road London, England, E9 5LN United Kingdom (map)

Parasang is a project led by Ariwo’s Pouya Ehsaei. He invites musicians from different musical and cultural backgrounds for one-off improvised live session.

At these sessions Pouya is making the backbone of the musical space by making immersive soundscape, ever evolving sequenced melodic pattern, pulsating sub-heavy basslines and polyrhythmic beats. Through Parasang, Pouya has collaborated with over 70 musicians from around the globe including Jazz saxophonist, Binker Golding.

As part of the EFG London Jazz Festival, Pouya invites three musicians from his vast network of creators to jam with him on stage for 2 sets of improvised music.

Pouya’s music at Parasang is often inspired by the research he overtakes on each of the guests musical style and background. Musicians will be responding to electronic sounds by expressing themselves freely and extensively and often encouraged to try to accompany the electronically made melodies and rhythms by interpreting them liberally to a familiar pattern or a melody from their musical vocabulary and their folkloric aspirations.

During the pandemic, Pouya developed a system where he could continue playing with musicians remotely over the internet. The performances were streamed on Youtube and Twitch in Real-time. Watch Parasang Remote Series here
