What began as a Sunday night experiment in a Shoreditch basement in October 2015 has grown into a powerful grassroots club movement.
ABOUT THE EVENT
On Saturday, 25 October 2025, we celebrate 10 years of Girlz B Like at our spiritual home, Grow, Hackney Wick.
From the start, Girlz B Like has championed female DJs and selectors, giving them a platform to take control of the sound, shape the narrative and share their voice – all on vinyl. While much of clubland is still dominated by testosterone-heavy lineups, Girlz B Like has consistently put women front and centre. Our motto? “Guys Dance, Girlz DJ.” And it works.
Over the years we’ve hosted unforgettable sets from trailblazers including Josey Rebelle, Katie Barber, DJ Paulette, Shy One, Emma Ryalls, Lil Minx, DJ Blush and Kinky D. We’ve brought dynamic live acts, marked our third-year residency at Grow, taken the party on the road to Bude, and watched Marcia DaVinylMC deliver a legendary seven-hour solo set, not once but three times.
For our 10th anniversary, we are raising the bar once again with three incredible debut guests: Nubian Soul, Sophie Lloyd and DJ Inch High, each bringing their own energy to the booth. This is more than a party. It is a movement, a memory, a message and a statement. On 25 October, it is going to be a roadblock.
ABOUT THE DJs
Marcia Carr
Founder of Girlz B Like, Marcia Carr has spent a decade championing women behind the decks and building one of London’s most respected grassroots club movements. Her soulful, vinyl-led sets span disco, house, broken beat, boogie, jazz and gospel – the sound at the heart of this 10-year celebration.
Sophie Lloyd
London-based DJ and producer Sophie Lloyd creates uplifting disco, soul and house that lights up dancefloors. With over 15 years behind the decks, she has played alongside Honey Dijon, Horse Meat Disco and Todd Terje, held major London residencies and released acclaimed tracks including her gospel house hit Calling Out on Classic Music Company.
DJ Inch High
A lifelong record collector and selector, DJ Inch High crafts sets that span 80s soul, rare groove, boogie and house. Growing up in North London’s vibrant 80s scene, he brings energy, deep cuts and timeless grooves that tell a story with every track.
Nubian Soul
DJ Nubian Soul blends Afrobeat, neo soul, broken beats, soulful house, jazz and funk into genre-fluid, soulful journeys. Known for sets at UK Black Pride, Bruk Up and her own Organic Nubians nights, she creates spaces where rhythm, heritage and spirit come alive.
ENTRY INFORMATION
Limited Pre-sale tickets: £5, £7 (limited availability on RA). Free before 9 PM, the majority of tickets are on the door for £10 after.
BOOKING A TABLE
There is no seating for the performance but you can book tables up until 8pm in other areas of the venue to enjoy food and drink and still enjoy the event in the main area. If you don’t book in advance, arriving early is recommended as tables are on a first-come-first-served basis.
