STRATOS 7TH ANNIVERSARY AT GROW W/ RACHAEL COHEN // LIVE JAZZ JAM ON THE CANAL EVERY THURSDAY

  • Grow 98c Wallis Road London, England, E9 5LN United Kingdom (map)

Our house band Stratos celebrate 7 years of playing every week at our venue by inviting a special guest to join them on stage, saxophonist & composer, Rachael Cohen!

Originally from the Shetland Islands and now based in London, Cohen is an alto saxophonist and composer on the rise with an infectious tone and an uncanny storytelling ability. Over the past few years, her live performances and composing skills have gained her great attention from the UK jazz press & community. One of Cohen's strongest attributes is her lyrical and controlled phrasing when improvising which she delivers with the ease and sophistication of someone twice her age.

Gina Southgate, the iconic Jazz painter and a standout figure within the UK’s international jazz scene, will be painting live this Thursday!

‘My live painting is concerned with the essence of the moment and my alignment to that moment.  A musician's unique relationship with their instrument informs my visual response'

For Stratos’ 7th anniversary, she will be portraying the band live on our terrace.

Jazz is back outside! We are thrilled to announce that our weekly Jazz Jam has returned Canal Side for the summer.

Every Thursday for 7 years our house jazz band Stratos, led by the Mercury Prize nominated Rio Kai, have taken us on a voyage through classic, straight ahead, hard bop & Jazz fusion! Stratos features Rio Kai, Jamie Murray & Dom Pusey.

After the first set they open up the jam to jazz musicians who want to get involved! Contact @stratostheband on Instagram if you’re interested in jamming. It’s free entry for jammers.

The first performance of the evening will be outside, and the band will move inside for the second set.
