Nominate an artist-in-residence for Grow’s Pod

In 2017 Grow launched the 'Grow Pod' in Grow’s Yard to host artist residencies. Inside these 4 walls, many ideas, concepts and creations have been born and/or developed. From audio visual installations, murals, podcasts, installations at open studios at V&A Lates and a community radio station.

In 2022, we’ve partnered with Juliet Can, Stour Trust‘s founder as part of the SEED Project to offer the pod to provide 2 artist-in-residencies of 3 months (starting from March/April 2022).

Benefits:

  • free studio space in Grow’s pod for 3 months

  • opportunity to develop artistic practice and create a body of work to showcase it to the public as part of open studios or an event

  • offer of writing and producing a blog for Grow’s website

  • invitations to meet other artists/makers/practitioners in the community with aim of cross fertilisation across disciplines, creating networks for the artist beyond the residency

  • mentoring with the Grow team to talk about our experience

of creative community, our practice and practicalities e.g hosting art/music events

  • 15% off food/drink at Grow throughout residency

How to become an artist in residence in Grow’s Pod

We’re asking potential artists-in-residence to be nominated by someone else via the online form below.

Are you nominating an artist?

As well as answering some short questions about the artist you would like to nominate, you will also need to confirm the following:

  • you have permission from artist to nominate them

  • The artist is over 21 years of age

  • the nominated artist is available for 3 month residency and you both understand: 1) they’re not able to sleep in pod and need living arrangements elsewhere and 2) we ask for a average minimum of 16 hours per week working in the pod

  • You and the artist would be happy to participate in a short Q&A with Grow and Stour Trust during the residency

  • You’re happy to act as a reference and can provide another person as reference (we will need one reference to be professional)

  • The nominated artist will need to sign T&Cs of artist residency to ensure a safe residency.

Nominations are now closed. We will be in touch with those who nominated in March 2022
