Discover an evening of deep listening, rare grooves and carefully curated selections at Grow Hackney. More than background music, it’s a chance to slow down, tune in and experience the craft of selectors.
SET FOCUS
Tracing the journey from roots reggae dub versions - stripped-down, bass-heavy mixes that turned B-sides into hypnotic soundscapes - through to the disco producers who adopted those same techniques and reshaped dancefloors. The set will draw on labels like Emotional Rescue, Isle of Jura, and Soundway, alongside François K’s productions on Prelude, Dan Tyler (NAD / Idjut Boys) versions and other vinyl finds, for an evening uncovering the thread connecting Jamaica to New York and beyond.
ABOUT THE SELECTOR
Vinyl collector and groove selector, Ryan Taylor digs deep into the realms of disco and deep house, through to funk, reggae and jazz. Spinning an eclectic mix of soulful sonics, uplifting rarities, and dancefloor gems. As part of the teams behind East London venues Village Underground and EartH, his tastes traverse a wide range of music that moves the body and soul.
