From The Crates is a new series of free DJ nights at Grow Hackney for people who want to listen more closely. Each event is built around a theme, from genres and labels to cities, movements and moments in time, with a focus on deep digging, musical discovery and setting a mood.

This is not a club night. It is about selectors with something to share, creating an atmosphere through music that spans jazz, funk, soul, psych, dub, ambient, early electronica, highlife, MPB and beyond. At its heart, the series celebrates the diggers, collectors and DJs whose care, taste and knowledge cannot be replicated by an algorithm.

The Autumn Series takes place on Sundays and Wednesdays throughout October and November. Submissions to play for this edition are now closed but will reopen next year for the next series.
