Born and raised in London, Abel’s (Steve Butler) relationship with house music was fostered through an obsessive collector’s bug. He landed his first main residency at Raid/The Limelight in London’s West End during the peak ’88 rave scene period. Within two years, he was playing at big-name nights including Back to Basics, Moneypennies, Venus and Ministry of Sound.
More recently, through his regular slots at the legendary Southport Weekender and Croatian sister event Suncebeat, Steve met Atjazz, his label manager and mentor. Under the 'Abel' moniker, he produced his 2023 Cosmic Law album, conveying his love of deep house and Latin energies. Abel has also played alongside Osunlade, Atjazz, The Journeymen and recently at festivals with The Pet Shop Boys, The Scissor Sisters and The Brand New Heavies.

Mucho Soul began life back in 2001 as a monthly club night in Soho, founded by Alan Kenny Arscott (DJ A.K.A) and Ket Shah. Their soulful concept has developed into a DJ collective and promotional outfit showcasing everything from jazz, reggae, funk and broken beat, to house, nu disco and electronica.
In recent years they’ve graced stages at We Out Here festival, Latitude, Campfire (Kings Cross), Amor Andalucia, Vocalbooth in Spain and the Southern Soul Festival in Montenegro.
They launched their Soul On The Canal Side parties for Grow Hackney in 2017, a summer series that has wowed capacity crowds every year between June and September.
