GROW’S EVENT CALENDAR

Grow is independent and grassroots with international impact. Local and emerging artists are programmed alongside international artists.

Since GROW opened our doors in 2014, we’ve hosted 250+ events each year and had over 150,000 people through our doors.

Young musicians have jammed with Abass Dodoo (Ginger Baker band), Japanese contemporary dancers and indigenous didgeridoo masters from Australia, to name just a few. Our artist partners credit the collaborations, regularity of exposure and payments as helping them hone their craft. Those for come to Grow for the entertainment, food and drink experience a span of genres and together we celebrate diverse culture from around the globe to down the road.

5K GUIDED BEER JOG FOR UKRAINE (INC. 2 BREWERY VISITS) // FUNDRAISER

5k Beer Jog for Ukraine! (Led by Hackney Tours)

What's better than jogging a gentle 5k with friends and getting a group exercise buzz, all while picking up a few choice bits of Hackney history? Doing it with included BEER for a good cause!

Join us for a fun, friendly and relaxed 5k jog from Grow to Signature Brew in Haggerston. On the way, we'll swing by another brilliant local brewery Five Points. Both of these brewing beauties have agreed to give us a beer or two as we pass through! If you're a big-time beer-lover we can probably grab them for a quick bit of chat about how they make all that lovely ale and maybe even get a quick peek behind the scenes!

There's also a fitness surprise (!) at London Fields Fitness Studio where your guide for today also works.

The run will be led by running tour guide Simon Cole AKA Hackney Tours (est. 2012) who is also a personal trainer at the borough's best but most relaxed gym: London Fields Fitness Studio. The gym has previously supported Care4Calais and this time all monies will go to By Hand Ukraine, a fundraising initiative started by Simon after his recent trip to the Polish-Ukrainian border. Along with friend David Vannen, he will buy aid near the border then oversee its delivery into Ukraine. No waste, no politics but plenty of receipts and photographs and the knowledge that a small act of solidarity and care has been made.

A tremendous thank you to all the organisations below whose positive attitude and desire to help has made this happen - Hackney coming together to do good.

Included: beers (plural!), your veteran Hackney/London tour guide and personal trainer, a fitness suprise and a good feeling!

Suggested donation £30pp but all monies gratefully received for an important cause this cold winter.

Please note that only a small amount of alcohol will be offered mid-tour, please note that attendees must run responsibly and cross roads carefully and all activities are at runners' own risk.

FAQs

Who is this for?

Everyone.

Do I have to be fast?

No, it is a jog but a relaxed one. If anybody wants to go fast/hard, they can always do loops or meet us there!

Where is the money going to? Is it all going to the cause?

It's all going to By Hand Ukraine. Everyone has been very generous with their time. It's an initiative by me, Simon from Hackney Tours and my good friend David. It will end with aid delivered or overseen by myself and David in Ukraine, after my volunteering/factfinding trip to the border in October 2022.

I love the idea but I'm not a beer drinker. Can I still come?

For sure! We'll find you something else, within reason. (No champers, sorry!)

Can I donate more?

Yes, you're very welcome to.

I can't make this but want to be involved?

Great! You can join the Ukraine-themed special Talkaoke with the People Speak 8th December, you can donate at the JustGiving website and we're planning a canoe adventure with the brilliant Leaside Trust in January, so stay tuned at ByHandUkraine.org!
